There are a great number of Baroque festivals in Europe, like the Sonnenball in Cologne and the Lumieres event in Udine, at which beautifully costumed guests attend to enjoy 18th Century music and arts at fancy gardens and chateaus. Is there anything remotely close to this in the States? I know there are a few Victorian events like the Dickens Faire, but... where can I go in my 18th Century gowns?

Tue, June 24, 2008 - 10:42 AMYou might check with Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia to see if they have any events that they encourage dressed patrons or I suppose you could go take the tours dressed up anyway as if visiting from another colony or country.

If an event doesn't exist, one of those places might be interested in renting or having an outside group put on an event at their site especially those that already allow weddings. There are several of us here in California who would be interested in an 18th century event if you find or create one.
The Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild (California) sometimes had small events during that era in past years, but doesn't look like any are scheduled for 2009
