Hello
I am a dancer who needs some information on where I might:
A. see photos or renderings of what a brothel worker may have worn, say 1700s-early 1900s eras.
B. learn more of the history of brothel or bordello workers
C. find out geographical info on the various types of sex trades took place in areas around the world
Any other costuming suggestions/links/photos for this type of garb would be appreciated! I know it's a vast spanse of time periods, but I am not sure yet what I am looking for exactly.
Thank you graciously

Re: Performance artist needs costume suggestions
Thu, January 24, 2008 - 7:18 AMas far as photos or pictures go, try looking for caricatures and broadsides. New York Public Library has a wonderful database of scans from their periodicals from 1700s onwards. Their keyword search is pretty good. digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldi...dex.cfm and digital.nypl.org/mmpco/ (not sure if these overlap) -
